The Serum's Secret: A Deal with My Brother-in-Law
It had started as the ultimate freeloader’s paradise. Jehnny was going on vacation, leaving behind a fridge stacked with high-end groceries and pets that needed feeding. John volunteered on the spot. Lounging on the couch and bingeing free TV all day sounded like pure luxury.
Vanity was his downfall. Used to all-in-one body washes that could double as engine degreaser, John was completely mesmerized by his sister’s skincare collection. Tucked among the jars, an unlabeled frosted glass bottle caught his eye. It smelled incredible—sweet, intoxicating, almost magnetic—with a single instruction on the back: Apply twice daily.
So he did. For the first few days, the cooling rush on his skin felt amazing.
By day four, the chemistry came calling. The goatee John had sported for years simply washed down the shower drain. His body hair vanished, leaving behind impossibly smooth skin. His dark hair started growing at a breakneck pace, tumbling down his shoulders in lush, voluminous waves.
Panic truly set in when his scrawny frame transformed entirely. A sudden warmth in his chest gave way to a full, shapely bust. His hips flared out, carving out a remarkably tiny waist. By the second week, the mirror told no lies: John had become the spitting image of his sister—strikingly curvy and a few years younger.
What he hadn't known was that Jehnny worked at a biotech lab and had brought home an experimental rejuvenation serum tailored strictly to her own DNA. John had essentially overdosed on personalized genetic hormones.
On their daily check-in calls, John forced his voice as low and raspy as possible, blaming the shift on a bad cold. The dread of facing his sister’s fury kept his mouth shut.
Today, fueled by sheer curiosity, he decided to test out her wardrobe. He slipped into tiny black shorts, lace stockings, sheer gloves, and the velvet corset. He was still staring in disbelief at the mirror when a sudden sound made his blood run cold: a key turning in the front door lock.
John froze. There was no time to untie the corset.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway. It was William, Jehnny’s boyfriend. Knowing John’s talent for chaos, Jehnny had asked William to swing by and ensure the apartment was still in one piece.
William called out for John as he walked through the rooms. Getting no answer, he pushed open the master bedroom door—and stopped dead.
Before him stood his "girlfriend," dressed in dramatic black velvet, golden jewelry at her throat, wearing a stunned expression he completely mistook for flustered romance. A broad grin broke across William’s face, instantly assuming Jehnny had cut her trip short to surprise him.
He asked no questions. Crossing the room with confident strides, William caught John by the waist and pulled him into a passionate, breathless kiss.
John felt firm hands at his waist and the warmth of his brother-in-law's lips. Panic short-circuited his brain in a single frantic loop:
If I push him away, I blow my cover... but if I don't... what do I do?!
The fear wasn't just about getting caught; it was how easily the moment swept him away. The kiss was warm, deep, and utterly devoted. Driven by instinct and the new hormones racing through his veins, John leaned into the momentum. He placed his hands on William’s shoulders and kissed him back.
It was his first kiss in this bizarre reality, fueled by a rush of adrenaline he had never felt before.
When they finally parted, William lingered close, catching his breath with a soft chuckle.
"Babe... you really missed me, didn't you? That was incredible."
The comment snapped John straight back to reality. His heart hammered against the velvet corset, and he knew the illusion couldn't hold. Backing away in a rush of panic, John took a breath and spilled the entire truth: the unlabeled bottle, the hormonal reaction, the biotech mishap, and the fact that he was actually her unemployed brother caught in the middle of a massive accident.
John braced for the worst, expecting shouting, disgust, or total outrage.
Instead, a calm silence settled over the room.
Opening his eyes, John saw William regarding him with an amused smirk, casually taking in the situation.
"Alright, I follow," William said with surprising composure. "The place looks fine. I’ll call Jehnny and tell her I was swamped at the office and couldn't swing by. She won't suspect a thing."
Relief washed over John, but he paused as William took a deliberate step closer.
"Don't relax just yet, John. I'm keeping your secret, but you owe me a favor."
John swallowed hard, nerves returning. "What kind of favor?"
"Well, since you're a dead ringer for her right now, you're stepping in as my date," William said matter-of-factly. "I have that dull corporate dinner tomorrow night, and you're coming with me as my girlfriend. No complaining."
John’s eyes went wide. Part of him wanted to call his sister immediately to sort out the mess, but agreeing bought him the time he desperately needed to figure out an antidote.
Besides, the lingering tingle from that accidental kiss made him wonder just how chaotic the evening would be. Looking at his brother-in-law, John realized the next two weeks were going to be anything but ordinary.
