The White Skirt Challenge: When Punishment Becomes Power

Jermaine had always been the most punctual guy in the group. Friday night drinks were practically a standing appointment for him. But tonight, he was already forty minutes late.

His three friends were sitting at their usual table at the bar, placing bets on whether he'd fallen asleep on the couch or gotten stuck in yet another argument with his wife.

None of them were prepared for the sound that suddenly cut through the bar's background chatter: the sharp, rhythmic click of high heels against the wooden floor.

When the figure walked through the door, the conversation at Table Four died instantly.

Marcos froze with his glass halfway to his mouth.

It was Jermaine.

Or at least, the most ridiculously gorgeous version of Jermaine any of them had ever seen.

His wife's "punishment" had been carefully planned.

He was wearing a bubblegum-pink crop top with a collar and incredibly soft fur-trimmed cuffs, revealing a perfectly curved waist. A short white skirt hugged his hips in a way that seemed to defy physics, ending well above his shapely thighs before giving way to matching furry boots.

A quilted pink handbag dangled delicately from his manicured hands.

His wife's voice was still echoing in his head.

"I warned you. Now go out there dressed like that!"

For a couple of seconds, Jermaine felt his face burning under his friends' stunned stares.

Then he noticed their dropped jaws.

And something changed.

The embarrassment slowly gave way to something completely new.

A warm little rush of pure power.

Jermaine walked toward the table, swaying his hips with a natural confidence he hadn't even known he possessed. He pulled out the metal chair, carefully adjusted his skirt with both hands to make sure it wasn't showing too much, and sat down, slowly crossing his legs.

The movement made the fur on his boots brush against Marcos's leg.

Marcos swallowed hard.

"What's wrong?" Jermaine asked, his voice taking on a teasing tone he seemed to invent on the spot. "Didn't you guys want to spend the whole night talking about women?"

"Dude... what... how..." Carlos stammered, his eyes fixed on the way the pink crop top emphasized Jermaine's curves.

"My wife has a peculiar sense of humor." Jermaine smiled mischievously, running his fingers through the long, silky hair framing his makeup-covered face. "And I don't back down from a challenge."

He leaned back in his chair.

"So, are you guys just going to stare, or are you going to buy your new date a drink?"

The nervous laughter around the table quickly turned into something much more palpable.

The guys tried making jokes to break the tension.

"At least his legs look better than Carlos's."

But their eyes betrayed them.

Every time Jermaine leaned forward to grab a snack, revealing his smooth stomach, or threw his head back laughing, the table would fall silent for a split second.

There was something about seeing their friend like this that none of them quite knew how to handle.

And they weren't the only ones noticing.

Men at other tables had started looking over.

A guy in a suit sitting at the bar even sent a bottle of champagne over to Table Four.

"I think you've got yourself an admirer, J," Marcos joked.

But there was a genuine hint of jealousy in his voice.

He quickly dragged his chair closer to Jermaine, instinctively trying to "protect" his transformed friend.

"Let the guy be, Marcy." Jermaine winked. "He has good taste."

The nervous energy around the table only grew.

From that moment on, the balance of power had shifted.

Jermaine discovered that being an attractive woman apparently came with superpowers.

He didn't even have to reach for the menu.

Carlos immediately handed it to him.

When a cold draft blew in through the open door, Marcos quickly took off his leather jacket and draped it over Jermaine's shoulders.

"Thanks," Jermaine said, giving him a subtle, appreciative shoulder rub.

By the time the bill arrived, Jermaine hadn't even seen the check.

Carlos and Marcos practically argued over who was going to pay for "her."

By the end of the night, another competition had started.

Who was going to drive Jermaine home?

Marcos won.

The drive was wrapped in a strangely heavy silence.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jermaine could see Marcos's knuckles turning white around the steering wheel as his friend fought valiantly against the temptation to look at the bare legs beside him.

When they finally pulled up in front of Jermaine's house, Marcos cleared his throat, desperately trying to maintain his tough-guy attitude.

"Dude... tell your wife that... if she wants to pick another fight with you next Friday..."

He paused.

"I'd be happy to come pick you up at the door."

Jermaine gave him a sideways smile.

He found his friend's reaction absolutely adorable.

Instead of simply getting out, he leaned toward Marcos.

His sweet perfume filled the car.

Jermaine gently placed a hand on Marcos's shoulder and planted a soft, lingering kiss on his cheek, right near the corner of his mouth.

When he pulled away, a shiny trace of lip gloss remained behind.

"Thanks for the ride and for being such a gentleman, Marcy," Jermaine whispered near his ear.

He quietly laughed when he saw his friend completely freeze in the driver's seat, apparently unable to decide whether to smile or stop breathing altogether.

Jermaine opened the door and stepped out, his furry boots hitting the pavement.

Before heading inside, he glanced back over his shoulder one last time while adjusting the strap of his handbag.

Marcos was still sitting there motionless, one hand slowly touching the cheek Jermaine had kissed.

Walking toward the front door, feeling his hips naturally sway with every step in those heels, Jermaine smiled to himself.

Looking at things from this angle...

Maybe provoking his wife and getting himself into another argument tomorrow morning wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.
