Fairy Dust

The afternoon was unbearably boring, and digging through the old boxes in the attic of Lucas's grandmother’s house seemed at least more interesting than watching the same reality show for the fifth time.

Lucas kicked open the lid of one box, coughing as a puff of dust rose up.

— “This place smells like mothballs and secrets,” he joked, waving his hand.

Rafa, sprawled out lazily on the living room rug, looked up with a groan.

— “You’re gonna find a cursed doll in there, just watch.”

But what Lucas pulled out was something different. A small wooden box with floral carvings and a bronze clasp. Inside was a tiny glass vial filled with shimmering pink powder and a yellowed note.

"Fairy Dust. A pinch, and the world transforms."

— “You’re kidding,” Rafa laughed, getting up. “This looks like perfume for grannies with a fantasy twist.”

— “What if it’s some kind of old makeup?” Lucas wondered, holding it up to the light. The dust sparkled hypnotically.

Without hesitation, Rafa took the vial.

— “Only one way to find out. Maybe it’ll give me superpowers or some dumb crap like that.”

— “Careful, idiot!”

Too late. He’d already opened the vial and blown the contents onto himself.

The dust seemed to come alive, floating slowly as if every particle knew exactly where to land. The glow intensified, and a subtle but powerful energy began to ripple through Rafa’s body.

— “It’s hot... and cold... at the same time. Ow!” He staggered, grabbing the wall for balance.

Lucas’s eyes widened.

— “Dude... you're... changing.”

And he was. His hair grew longer and smoother, falling in a golden cascade that framed a now softer, more elegant face. His t-shirt shrank into a tight top with open shoulders, and his pants morphed into a flowing, slit skirt in soft shades of pink with sheer layers.

— “WHAT THE HELL?!” — Rafa’s voice rang out—higher, sweeter—and the shock was clear as she looked down at her transformed body. — “Lucas! What the hell just happened?!”

Lucas was speechless.

— “You... turned into a fairy. Like... a woman. A stunning one. With... wings?”

Rafa spun around, noticing the delicate, translucent wings fluttering behind her. She caught a glimpse of herself in the hallway mirror. Panic slowly gave way to something else. Curiosity? Awe?

— “This doesn’t make sense... but... am I hot?” she whispered, running her fingers through her hair, staring at her reflection.

— “Hot is an understatement,” Lucas blurted out, eyes glued to her. — “If this is magic, I need your grandma’s recipe book.”

Rafa turned to him with an annoyed look, though there was a mischievous smirk forming.

— “You actually like this?”

— “It's not like I can help it,” Lucas said. — “And... looks like you kinda like it too. You’ve been checking yourself out for like five minutes.”

She opened her mouth to argue but stopped. She was twirling a strand of hair around her finger. Without noticing. And biting her lip. And… kind of swaying her hips as she walked.

— “Shit... I think the dust messes with more than just the body,” she muttered. — “My thoughts feel... way too sparkly.”

Lucas chuckled nervously.

— “You're starting to act like a cartoon character.”

— “Ugh, shut up, Lucas,” she replied with a playful tone. — “You know what? Help me look through the rest of the boxes. Maybe there’s another vial. Who knows—maybe you’re next.”

Lucas looked at her, a strange warmth blooming in his chest and his heart beating way faster than it should’ve.

— “I... don’t know if I’m ready to be a fairy.”

Rafa took two steps closer, eyes glowing with charm.

— “But I’m definitely ready to see you try.”

And at that moment, Lucas knew one thing for sure: his grandma had way more secrets than anyone ever guessed.

  1. Love it! Lucas should enjoy the moment, sure I would if it happened to me! And such a beautiful fairy she turned out to be! Wonder if she now has any magical powers?
