A Very Different Business Dinner
Less than ten seconds after the photo appeared on his Instagram feed, a message from his son arrived.
"Dad, what are you doing?"
The notification practically radiated panic from the screen.
Daniel chuckled softly. Even after everything that had happened, he still found it amusing hearing his new voice. He quickly typed a reply with his long, perfectly manicured nails.
"Just posting a picture before I head out. Isn't your wife always trying to be an influencer? I'm simply doing what we agreed: keeping up appearances and acting normal until we find a way to reverse this."
His son's response came almost immediately. The three little typing dots appeared, disappeared, and appeared again, revealing just how nervous the young man was on the other side.
"I know, but what are you wearing? I told you we have an important dinner tonight, and they asked me to bring my wife."
Daniel glanced at himself in the full-length mirror.
The fitted red dress looked remarkably elegant, emphasizing the graceful curves of his daughter-in-law's body. A delicate gold necklace with the initial J rested against his collarbone, while a pair of hoop earrings completed the look.
He adjusted one of the earrings and typed back, already amused by the situation.
"Exactly. That's why I dressed like this. I'm going there to leave your boss speechless. Hahaha."
Daniel put the phone down and took another look at his reflection.
The whole situation was absurd.
And yet, he couldn't deny that he was enjoying himself.
Perhaps it was because his back pain had mysteriously disappeared.
Perhaps it was the strange sensation of having his youth back.
Or maybe it was simply the thrill of doing something completely outside his usual routine.
For years, Daniel had felt the weight of his fifties creeping into every part of his life. His back hurt, his energy was gone by the end of the day, and even simple activities had gradually become more tiring.
Now, all of that seemed to have vanished overnight.
He felt lighter.
Younger.
More energetic than he had felt in years.
And tonight, he intended to put that newfound energy to good use.
His son had warned him that this was an important business dinner. He was supposed to behave carefully, avoid drawing attention, and simply help maintain the illusion until they found a way to undo the transformation.
Daniel smiled at his reflection.
That sounded like a perfectly reasonable plan.
At least, until he arrived at the dinner.
Because if there was one thing Daniel had already discovered about his unexpected new life, it was that he had no intention of wasting the opportunity to have a little fun with it.
On the other end of the line, the young man's brain seemed dangerously close to short-circuiting.
A complete mental mess had taken over. Who was that woman now? His wife? His father? If his father was now in his wife's body, did that technically make him his new mother? Or was his father still his father, only now somehow fulfilling the role of his spouse in the eyes of society?
The insane combination of circumstances practically required a detailed Excel spreadsheet just to map out the family's new relationships.
It was the kind of headache that no amount of traditional logic could untangle.
But apparently, Daniel wasn't worried about charts, family trees, or complicated explanations in the slightest.
He genuinely seemed determined to embrace his new role as a wife.
And judging by the sparkle in his eyes in that selfie and his choice of that dangerously stunning red dress, he wasn't merely going to play the part.
He was going to put on a show.
