Morgana's Final Warning

Carl adjusted the rearview mirror with trembling hands. The reflection staring back at him was not that of the 34-year-old businessman who had left home that morning. Those striking blue eyes, full lips, and long, perfectly styled blonde waves belonged to a stunning woman.

He blinked. The reflection blinked back.

He cautiously raised a hand to his face, feeling the impossibly soft skin beneath his fingertips.

"No, no, no... This can't be real," he whispered.

But the voice that emerged from his throat was soft, melodic, and unmistakably feminine.

For three years, Carl had been leading a double life. On one side was his comfortable, predictable marriage to Amanda. On the other was the overwhelming passion and mystery of Morgana.

There had always been something enigmatic about Morgana, something almost mystical that Carl had dismissed as part of her charm. At least, until the night before.

Tired of empty promises and being kept in the shadows, she had finally confronted him.

"Make up your mind, Carl. Choose one of us, or you'll end up losing us both."

He had laughed. He thought it was just another breakup threat, an attempt to make him jealous or force his hand.

But Morgana didn't make empty threats.

She had simply smiled, whispered a few incomprehensible words while placing her hand against his chest, and disappeared into the evening mist.

Now the day of reckoning had arrived. And her promise had been fulfilled in a way that defied the very laws of reality.

He was no longer Amanda's husband. He was... the woman staring back at him from the mirror.

The phone on the center console vibrated.

It was Amanda.

"Honey, are you on your way home for lunch? I made that lasagna you love so much."

A cold sweat trickled down Carl's neck.

How could he possibly walk through that front door? How could he explain to his wife that his mistress had placed a curse on him and transformed him into a woman?

Amanda would never forgive the affair. And even if she somehow believed his ridiculous story, their marriage would be over anyway.

Morgana had been right. He had lost everything.

Looking down at the polka-dot dress now hugging her new figure, Carl took a deep breath. The initial panic slowly gave way to a strange, almost icy clarity.

His past was gone. The man he had once been no longer existed, at least not in the eyes of the world.

He started the engine. But instead of driving home, he headed in the opposite direction.

If fate had thrown him into this new reality, he would have to learn its rules. He had lost his old life, but as he caught one last glimpse of the mysterious woman in the rearview mirror, Carl began to realize something.

Perhaps this was also an opportunity. A chance to start again, from absolutely nothing.

Only this time, things would be done on his own terms.
