The Rejuvenation Mistake: He Wanted a Younger Wife. He Became One Instead!
The procedure relied on cutting-edge nanotechnology and advances in CRISPR gene editing. As you might expect, it cost a fortune, wiping out nearly everything the couple had saved over years of hard work.
Within days of starting the treatment, the results were undeniable. Clarice looked younger and more radiant with every passing morning. Watching the transformation, Martin's impulsive nature got the better of him. He decided to try some of the compound on himself.
After all, with their finances practically wiped out, it would take ages before he could afford a kit specifically designed for his own DNA.
What could possibly go wrong? he thought.
Apparently, his high school biology classes had never been his strong suit.
The compound had been meticulously calibrated to a woman's hormonal profile and chromosomal structure. In Martin's body, it triggered a cascade of unexpected changes. The transformation was swift and overwhelming. Within a single day, his entire biological identity had been rewritten.
Panicked, the couple called the pharmaceutical giant's customer service department. The representative's response was less than reassuring.
"It's printed in bold letters in the instruction manual, sir: the product is intended exclusively for the individual whose DNA was mapped. Any adverse effects resulting from unauthorized use fall outside the warranty."
But the real mystery began afterward.
Once the initial shock had passed, Clarice noticed something deeply unexpected. Her husband seemed to be adapting to his new reality far too well.
Standing in front of the kitchen mirror on a sunny morning, the person who had once been Martin held a coffee mug decorated with tiny hearts. The genetic treatment had completed its work, leaving no trace of the man who had started the experiment.
Where there had once been an ordinary man in his mid-thirties, stubborn and beginning to lose his hair, there was now a stunning young woman. Her skin was flawless, her brown hair was gathered into a casually elegant bun, and Clarice's gray floral pajama pants, which Martin could barely have pulled over his knees before, now fit her new curves perfectly.
At first, the house had been filled with panic. There had been shouting, tears, and that utterly useless phone call. Martin had rewritten his own genetic code with the wrong key, and the mistake appeared to be permanent.
Yet Clarice's greatest surprise wasn't her husband's physical transformation. It was what happened over the following days.
Instead of sinking into depression, mourning his lost social status, or trying to hide his new body beneath oversized men's clothing, the person who now called herself Martina seemed almost perfectly suited to her new life.
The adjustment was alarmingly natural.
By the second day, she was moving around the house with an easy grace, no longer stumbling as she adjusted to her changed proportions and center of gravity. On the third day, Clarice caught her testing different shades of lip gloss in the bathroom mirror, wearing a little crooked smile that Martin hadn't shown in years.
That morning, Martina was leaning against the kitchen counter, enjoying her coffee, when Clarice entered the room. She stopped and watched for a moment, studying the relaxed posture and genuine confidence of the woman who had once been her husband.
"You know..." Clarice began, folding her arms with an intrigued smile. "For someone who ruined our life savings and lost his entire identity through sheer impulsiveness, you seem remarkably comfortable with your new hormones."
Martina looked up, took a slow sip of coffee, and smiled. The playful arch of her eyebrows seemed to come from somewhere deep inside her.
"I'm just trying to look on the bright side, darling," Martina replied, her new voice soft, warm, and melodious enough to send a shiver down Clarice's spine. "Besides, this pajama fabric is incredibly comfortable. And weren't you hoping to have a younger, more beautiful wife around the house? I think the kit worked perfectly. It just got the target wrong."
Clarice burst into laughter, shaking her head.
The scientific mistake had been catastrophic for their bank account and conventional biology. Yet, looking at Martina standing there, radiant and completely at ease, Clarice began to realize something she hadn't expected.
Her grief for the man she had known didn't last long. In its place came an undeniable truth: there was no husband standing in her kitchen anymore. Their marriage, at least in its original form, had dissolved along with Martin's former chromosomes.
But something else was beginning to grow in its place: a new friendship built on trust, laughter, and an unexpected sense of female camaraderie.
Within weeks, conversations about football and finances had been buried beneath gossip, beauty tips, and discussions about clothes. Clarice found herself not merely accepting the new reality but becoming Martina's enthusiastic guide, encouraging her to explore every aspect of her new life.
"If you're going to be a woman, you might as well do it properly," Clarice joked one evening as she applied a face mask to her former other half. "Tomorrow, we're trying high heels. Let's see how good your balance really is."
Martina loved the challenge. She didn't just accept Clarice's advice; she seemed to absorb every lesson with astonishing ease. Her mental adjustment was progressing almost as quickly as her physical transformation.
The defining moment of this new chapter came on a Friday evening as the two women shared a bottle of wine in the living room. Clarice was complaining about the stress at work when Martina casually tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and interrupted.
"Girl, you need to stop stressing so much and start paying attention to the important things. Like that new engineer at your company. Rodrigo, right? What a man! Tall, gorgeous smile... If I had your employee badge, I'd have invented a meeting in his office just to get a closer look at his cologne."
Clarice nearly choked on her wine.
She stared at the stunning woman sitting across from her. A month earlier, Martin would have grown jealous or at least grumbled whenever Clarice mentioned another man. Now Martina sat with her legs crossed, demanding details about the most attractive guy in the office as if they had been best friends since high school.
"Are you seriously checking out my coworkers, Martina?" Clarice laughed, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
"I'm simply appreciating good aesthetics, darling. Now tell me: is he single, or are we going to have to investigate his social media?"
Between laughter and whispered confidences, Clarice finally understood.
Martin might be gone for good, but the best friend she had gained in his place was exactly the kind of partner in crime she had never known she needed.
And judging by the way Martina was already planning their next office-related investigation, this was only the beginning.
