The Husband Who Started Going Out Too Often
The problem wasn't just his posture or the strikingly curvy reflection in the mirror behind him. The real problem stood right in front of him, arms crossed and wearing a distinctly unimpressed expression.
Her name was Leticia. His wife.
Leticia stared at her husband with a mixture of disbelief and unmistakable irritation. Her eyes traveled critically over Thomas's outfit: pieces from her own former wardrobe that had somehow become a perfect fit for his new body. The black corset and tight shorts accentuated curves that no tailored business suit could ever have replicated.
"Thomas, this is the third time just this week you've announced that you're going out with the boys," Leticia said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Funny how, ever since that damn accident at your company's laboratories, your business meetings and happy hours with the executives have become a thousand times more frequent."
Thomas swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. He glanced sideways, suspiciously, while his mind raced to manufacture a flimsy excuse that might make at least a little sense.
How could he explain to his own wife that those evenings at the bar had become the highlight of his week? Worse still, how could he admit that he had become the center of attention among his former colleagues, who now insisted on buying him drinks and pulling out chairs for him?
The uncomfortable truth, which Thomas guarded like a state secret, was that their marriage had entered decidedly uncharted territory.
Ever since he had returned home transformed into a stunning blonde woman, the dynamic between them had changed dramatically. No matter how hard they tried to maintain the appearance of normality, Leticia had almost instinctively begun treating him more like a girlfriend to gossip with and exchange clothes with than like a husband.
Thomas adjusted the thin strap of his corset with carefully manicured fingertips and let out a soft sigh. He was preparing to deliver yet another corporate-sounding explanation, already knowing that behind Leticia's scowl lay a simple truth.
The balance of power in their household would never be the same again.
