The Executive Who Never Existed

Victor pushed the fine white porcelain cup across the mahogany table, a perfectly calculated smile forming on his lips.

“Drink, Arthur. You look tense. And we have an important matter to settle before the board meeting,” Victor said, leaning back in his leather chair.

Exhausted, Arthur picked up the cup and took a long sip of the strong coffee. He glared at his rival before throwing a black folder onto the table.

“The subject is mine to dictate today, Victor. I got the reports from the Miami branch. I know about the forty-million-dollar embezzlement. The board will know in thirty minutes, and you'll be walking out of here in handcuffs.”

Victor didn't blink.

He simply glanced at his wristwatch, then at the cup in Arthur's hand.

“You've always been brilliant with numbers, Arthur. Terrible at strategy, though,” Victor replied, his voice calm and almost theatrical. “I knew you'd find the missing money. That's why I prepared your replacement.”

Arthur frowned.

“I want to talk about your new executive assistant,” Victor continued. “The one who's going to take the blame for the embezzlement, because ‘Arthur’ is going to disappear from the map today.”

Arthur opened his mouth to respond, but the words never came.

A sudden, overwhelming heat spread through his stomach. The air seemed to disappear from his lungs. He tried to stand, but his legs wobbled beneath him in a way they never had before.

He looked down in panic.

The gray fabric of his suit was pulling violently at the seams as his hips widened, taking on unmistakably feminine curves.

“What... what did you put in that?” Arthur managed to ask.

But his voice was no longer his own.

The harsh masculine tone had become a smooth, melodic feminine voice.

Victor smiled.

“An experimental biotechnological compound I bought with a fraction of those forty million dollars.”

He calmly folded his hands together.

“No one is going to arrest Director Arthur, because Arthur simply won't exist anymore. His fingerprints are changing. His DNA is changing. Even his voice is changing.”

Victor leaned closer.

“Legally speaking, you're about to become a ghost.”

The transformation accelerated.

Arthur's white dress shirt strained before reshaping itself around a completely different figure. The heavy suit jacket dissolved into a deep burgundy chiffon blouse, while delicate fabric appeared beneath it as part of the new outfit.

His fingers became slimmer, his nails lengthening into neatly polished tips. His short hair gained volume and shifted into a rich auburn shade, falling in soft waves over his shoulders.

Arthur, now Aline, raised trembling hands to her face.

Her features had softened dramatically. Her lips felt fuller, accented by the unmistakable texture of lipstick. Her glasses slipped down the bridge of her newly refined nose.

Her trousers had transformed into immaculate beige tailoring, fitted perfectly around her narrower waist and fuller thighs.

For a moment, she could only stare at herself.

Then instinct took over.

Aline stumbled backward and lowered herself into the wooden chair beside the window. Somehow, she crossed her legs with surprising naturalness, finding her balance on a pair of elegant white high-heeled sandals.

Victor stood.

He walked over, picked up the black folder, and placed it carefully on her lap.

“Here are your new documents, Aline.”

She stared at him in disbelief.

“You're going to walk into that meeting, take responsibility for the embezzlement as my subordinate, and sign everything exactly as instructed.”

Victor straightened his jacket.

“In exchange, I won't throw you out onto the street penniless and without an identity.”

Aline's fingers tightened around the folder.

Victor smiled one last time.

“We have a deal... don't we, darling?”
