A Fresh Start, Body and Soul
“Dude… what the hell are you wearing?”
Leaning casually against the doorframe, Brian brushed a lock of hair from his shoulder, still clearly not used to the heels.
“Well, I got dressed. Weren’t we going out?” he replied, trying to keep his balance.
Julian blinked. “Yeah, but… like that?”
“Of course!” Brian said, striking a playful pose. “These were the clothes in your wife’s closet. I mean, technically it’s my closet now, right?”
“It’s not your closet,” Julian snapped. “It’s hers! I still believe the scientists are gonna fix this whole Great Shift madness.”
Brian shrugged. “From what I’ve seen online, it’s permanent. And honestly? I’m getting used to it. After all the cosmetic work your wife had done, it’d be a crime to hide any of this. She clearly wanted to show it off — and I totally respect that! The new tenant in this body is me now.”
Julian rubbed his temples. “This is wrong on so many levels…”
“Wrong? C’mon, man,” Brian chuckled. “Look at the bright side — it’s your best friend who ended up in her body! Could’ve been some total stranger who didn’t give a damn about you. At least I care! And hey, look at Marcia — she’s having the time of her life in the body of that kid from down the street. Gained a few years back and a whole new attitude.”
Julian sighed. “Still, it’s weird knowing a guy is ‘driving’ my wife’s body.”
Brian grinned, voice dripping with teasing confidence.
“Relax, sweetheart. We’ll get used to it. Who knows? Maybe we’ll even make a real couple out of this.”
Julian just stared, unsure whether to laugh or panic.
A few weeks later, though, something unexpected happened — he actually started to accept the cosmic reset that fate had thrown into his marriage.
And Brian?
Well… Brian was clearly loving every second of it.
